Chapter 7 - The Dead Man's Secret
Michael finally handed Rebecca a hidden letter Claire had left before her death.
It named Andrew Cole and warned Daniel not to trust the people controlling Northbridge Holdings.
Rebecca began tracing the company's ownership.
Meanwhile, Kayla remembered a video she had once seen on Vanessa's phone. It showed Vanessa handing an envelope to a man beside a dark blue sedan.
The video had mysteriously disappeared.
Daniel returned to his house and found his study ransacked. The intruder had ignored cash and jewelry, taking only documents connected to Claire.
Someone was desperate to erase the past.
Then Daniel received a photograph of Claire standing outside a courthouse two days before her death.
On the back, someone had written:
Claire didn't die knowing the truth. She died trying to protect it.
Daniel called Claire's sister, Laura, who had been estranged from him since the funeral.
Laura revealed that Claire had contacted her shortly before the accident.
“She told me Vanessa wasn't the only person she feared,” Laura said.
“Who else?”
“My sister said the truth went back to your father's business.”
Daniel froze.
