Chapter 11 - THE MAN WHO CAME BACK
Daniel had one mission: find Emma before midnight.
An unknown message led him to an abandoned warehouse, where Vanessa waited with a bruised face and trembling hands.
“Victor Hale is alive,” she whispered. “And your father helped him disappear.”
Before Daniel could question her, two men emerged from the shadows.
One punched Daniel across the face. The other drove a fist into his stomach, forcing him to his knees.
“Where’s Claire’s recording?” one demanded.
“Where’s my daughter?” Daniel shouted.
A man stepped forward from the darkness.
Victor Hale.
The business partner everyone believed had died eleven years ago.
“You have your father’s stubbornness,” Victor said.
Daniel lunged at him, but Victor struck him twice and ordered his men to hold him down.
Then Victor showed him a live video of Emma, crying beside a window.
“Return Claire’s original recording by midnight, or you’ll never see her again.”
Daniel glared at him. “If you touch her, I’ll destroy everything you built.”
Victor smiled.
“Your father said the same thing.”
He threw Daniel outside and disappeared.
Moments later, Daniel received another message.
YOUR FATHER IS WAITING FOR YOU.
Daniel wiped the blood from his lip and stared at the screen.

His father was supposed to be missing.
So why was Victor keeping him alive?
