Chapter 28 - THE BETRAYAL INSIDE NORTHBRIDGE
Daniel confronted Thomas Hale with the forged records.
Thomas denied everything until Daniel slammed the documents onto his desk.
“People are dying because of your lies!”
Thomas suddenly struck Daniel across the face.
“You have no idea what I've sacrificed to protect this family!”
Daniel shoved him away.
“Then tell me the truth!”
Thomas admitted that Robert had paid Dr. Cole to conceal Elizabeth's disappearance. But he insisted that someone else had ordered the hospital switch.
Before Daniel could question him further, the board announced an emergency meeting.
Richard Voss accused Daniel of embezzling company funds and presented fabricated financial records.
Security dragged Daniel from the building while executives watched and whispered.
One employee spat at his feet.
“Your wife was a criminal, and now you're following in her footsteps.”
Daniel wanted to fight back, but cameras surrounded him.
Outside, reporters shouted questions about Claire's death.
Then a black limousine stopped beside him.
The window lowered.
A woman wearing Elizabeth's emerald ring smiled.
“Your family has finished with you, Daniel.”
She handed him an envelope.
Inside was Emma's school photograph, marked with a red cross.
