Chapter 26 - THE SLAP THAT EXPOSED EVERYTHING

Daniel stormed into Margaret's mansion, demanding to know why Elizabeth's name had appeared in Claire's murder investigation.
Margaret sneered. “Your wife should have minded her own business.”
When Daniel demanded answers, she slapped him across the face.
“You ungrateful fool!” she screamed. “Your entire life exists because this family allowed it!”
Daniel grabbed her wrist, but two security guards seized him and threw him against the wall. One punched him in the stomach while Margaret watched with a satisfied smile.
“Get out before I have you arrested.”
Daniel wiped blood from his lip.
“You're afraid of what I'll discover.”
Margaret struck him again.
“Your mother was never the innocent woman you remember!”
Before Daniel could respond, Robert appeared in the doorway.
“That's enough!”
Margaret froze.
Robert handed Daniel an old photograph showing Elizabeth beside two newborn babies.
“One of these children was never supposed to leave the hospital,” he whispered.
Suddenly, Margaret snatched the photograph and tore it in half.
“Because one dead child would have solved everything!”
Silence swallowed the room.
Daniel stared at her.
“Which child were you planning to kill?”
Margaret's expression changed. She had revealed too much.
