Chapter 87 - NOAH'S BLOOD

Noah was not with us.
He had stayed at home with a police officer.
But the moment Victoria said those words, my entire body went cold.
“Why Noah?”
Victoria didn't answer.
Eleanor did.
“Because Noah carries the final genetic marker.”
Julian stared at her.
“What marker?”
“The original Reed line.”
I shook my head.
“He's my son.”
“Exactly.”
Victoria stepped closer.
“Your mother was protecting the bloodline.”
“And Noah inherited it?”
“Yes.”
Julian's face went pale.
“That's why you kept asking about him.”
Victoria nodded.
“The Circle believed Noah could eventually access the original trust.”
I looked at the key in my hand.
“And now?”
Victoria's expression changed.
“Now they know Emily controls The Circle.”
A phone rang.
Julian's.
He answered.
His face drained of color.
“What happened?”
He listened.
Then dropped the phone.
“What?”
He looked at me.
“Noah is gone.”
I couldn't breathe.
The police officer assigned to protect him had been found unconscious.
The house was empty.
My son was gone.
Victoria looked at Eleanor.
“It's begun.”
I grabbed Victoria's coat.
“Where is my son?”
She didn't resist.
“I don't know.”
I shook her.
“Tell me!”
She looked directly into my eyes.
“I know where they took him.”
“Where?”
“The original house.”
“The house we lost?”
She nodded.
“The one beneath the old church.”
Julian was already moving.
Eleanor stopped him.
“Julian.”
He turned.
“If you go there angry, you'll get Noah killed.”
Julian clenched his fists.
“Then what do I do?”
Eleanor looked at me.
“You let Emily lead.”
Everyone stared at me.
I finally understood.
The Circle hadn't made me Director to give me power.
May you like
They had made me Director because only I could open the final door.
And Noah was the key.
