Chapter 76 - THE IMPOSTOR

The documents were terrifying.
Someone had been using Julian's identity for years.
But there was more.
A passport.
A driver's license.
A photograph.
The man looked almost identical to Julian.
Same face.
Same eyes.
Same height.
I stared at the photograph.
“Who is he?”
Clara whispered:
“His name is Lucas.”
Julian's face went pale.
“I don't have a brother.”
“You do.”
“No.”
“Your father had another son.”
I looked at Julian.
“You never knew?”
He shook his head.
“My father told me I was an only child.”
Clara nodded.
“That was the plan.”
“Why?”
“Lucas was raised inside The Circle.”
Julian stared at her.
“And I?”
“You were raised outside it.”
“So they created another version of me.”
“Yes.”
“To take the blame.”
“Yes.”
I looked at the documents.
“So Lucas is the one who framed me.”
Clara nodded.
“And he was the one behind your wedding.”
Julian's face hardened.
“Why?”
“Because he needed everyone to believe you were corrupt.”
I looked at her.
“What happens if he succeeds?”
“Julian goes to prison.”
“And Lucas?”
“He takes control of the trust.”
My heart sank.
“No.”
Clara looked at me.
“There's more.”
“What?”
“The wedding wasn't his final move.”
She handed me another photograph.
It showed Noah entering school.
A black car waited across the street.
Lucas stood beside it.
May you like
My son had been watched again.
For years.
