The armored underground laboratory of the Carter medical center operated at full capacity. Michael Jr. stayed awake for three days and three nights, his eyes bloodshot. He was racing against death to isolate the molecular structure of the mysterious poison threatening the lives of numerous children.
Beside him, Emily, despite her old age, resiliently wore her white blouse, utilizing her lifelong medical experience to support her eldest grandson. "This toxin binds to nerve cells in an incredibly sophisticated chain reaction," Emily said, her voice extremely serious.
Michael Jr. held his breath, cross-referencing the results with the international criminal database system. Suddenly, the computer screen flashed a blazing red error. This chemical structure carried an invisible digital signature, a symbol of a black snake wrapped around a blood-rusted sword.
That was the crest of the Falcone family, the ones who had been annihilated decades ago. The enemy this time didn't use guns or ransomware; they aimed straight at the lives of innocent children to force the Carter family to their knees in surrender.
