Chapter 4 - The Healing Touch

The little girl stared at Harrison’s tear-stained face. She didn't understand stocks, board meetings, or corporate backstabbing. But she understood sadness.
With quiet, natural grace, the little girl took a step closer to the black wheelchair. She didn't hesitate. She reached out her small, warm hand and gently placed it directly on his paralyzed leg.
The physical contact sent a sudden, electric shock of pure humanity through Harrison’s numb body. He stopped breathing, his eyes widening as he looked down at her tiny fingers resting against his dark blue suit trousers.
"You look lonely," the little girl said sweetly, her small hand patting his knee with gentle reassurance.
Harrison’s bottom lip trembled. For a full year, everyone had looked at him with pity, disgust, or greedy anticipation. No one had ever just looked at him and recognized his pain.
In the background, the maid finally caught up, looking completely terrified. She hovered nervously, whispering, "Oh, I am so sorry, sir! I turned my back for one second, and she wandered off—please don't report me to Mr. Julian!"
Harrison waved a trembling hand, dismissing the maid without taking his eyes off the child.
