Chapter 26 - the rescue mission

Just as the remaining mercenaries converged on the marble counter, the backdoor of the boutique was kicked completely off its hinges. Caleb Blackwell stormed into the room, his dark eyes pitch black with an absolutely terrifying, unleashed fury.

He didn't just shoot; he moved with the lethal, explosive precision of an apex predator defending its pack. He systematically neutralized the attackers with terrifying efficiency, his weapon roaring over the chaos until the showroom fell dead silent.

Caleb dropped his weapon and rushed over the shattered glass, sliding to his knees behind the marble counter. When he saw Marisol and Daisy physically unharmed, trembling but safe, his heart nearly stopped from sheer, overwhelming relief.

He pulled them both into a desperate, crushing embrace, burying his face in Marisol's neck. "I've got you. You're safe," Caleb breathed, his voice thick with raw emotion.

He lifted Daisy into his arms and guided Marisol out of the ruined boutique, surrounded by a wall of loyal guards. The ambush had failed spectacularly.
