Chapter 23 - the silent guardian

Over the next week, Caleb drastically increased the security perimeter around his family without raising any alarms. He replaced the standard chauffeurs with heavily armed, highly trained ex-military operatives dressed in discreet, tailored suits.

Marisol noticed the subtle shift. As an incredibly observant and intelligent woman, she realized that Caleb was tense, his dark eyes constantly scanning their surroundings with a terrifying, lethal vigilance whenever they left the estate.

One night, as they lay in bed, Marisol gently rested her hand on his broad, muscular chest. "Caleb, what is wrong?" she asked softly. "You haven't slept in three days. You're watching the doors like you're expecting an invasion."

Caleb pulled her tightly against his side, kissing the top of her head. He debated lying, but he promised absolute transparency. "Victor Thorne is making threats," Caleb confessed quietly. "But I promise you, he will never touch you or Daisy."
