Chapter 25 - a mother's fury

The mercenary sneered, stepping aggressively toward the velvet sofa where Daisy was sitting frozen in fear. But he severely underestimated the fierce, primal instinct of a mother fighting to protect her child.
Marisol didn't cower. Without a single second of hesitation, she grabbed a heavy, solid brass floor lamp standing near the pedestal. Ignoring the heavy layers of her wedding dress, she swung the brass base with all her might.
The heavy metal connected violently with the side of the mercenary's head with a sickening crunch. He staggered backward, dropping his weapon in stunned, disoriented agony. Marisol immediately grabbed Daisy, pulling her behind a reinforced marble counter.
"Stay down, baby! Cover your ears!" Marisol commanded frantically, shielding Daisy with her own body just as the boutique erupted into a deafening symphony of gunfire.
Caleb's elite security team, recovering from the initial crash, engaged the attackers in a fierce, merciless shootout. Bullets shattered mirrors and tore through expensive silk, turning the luxury boutique into a terrifying, chaotic war zone.
