Chapter 17 - the miraculous step
Nine grueling months passed with sweat, tears, and extreme agony. Finally, the day the entire estate had been waiting for arrived. The physical therapist stepped back a few paces, smiling and nodding to encourage the incredibly resilient billionaire.
Harrison let go of the supportive parallel bars. He took a deep breath, channeling all his focus into the legs that had once been sentenced to permanent paralysis. The entire room fell into silence, leaving only the sound of a pounding heartbeat.
One step. Two steps. Three steps. Although his steps were slow and trembling, Harrison was truly walking on his own without any assistance. A medical miracle and the power of will had created a magnificent feat.
Little Chloe stood not far away, her eyes wide open in ultimate joy. She couldn't hold back anymore, running over to hug the sturdy legs of her great father tightly. "Daddy, you're standing! You're standing!"
Harrison dropped to his knees, wrapping his little daughter in a full embrace. Tears rolled down the cheeks of the most powerful man in Chicago. The wall of disability had been completely shattered, returning his absolute freedom.
