Chapter 4 - The Prisoner Beneath the CastleKing Aldric ordered Noah confined to a guarded tower.

The boy protested, but nobody listened.

His room had a narrow window overlooking a vast kingdom of stone houses, winding streets, and distant mountains.

That night, a young servant named Mira appeared carrying bread and water.

She was fourteen and seemed less frightened of Noah's clothing than everyone else.

"You're the boy from the old stories," she whispered.

"What stories?"

Mira glanced toward the locked door.

"Three hundred years ago, a prince disappeared during his coronation. The kingdom was told he died. But the oldest records say he was sent somewhere no knight could follow."

"Where?"

"Beyond time."

Noah pulled the silver coin from his pocket.

Mira dropped the tray.

"Where did you find that?"

"My grandfather's house."

Her face went pale.

"Then your grandfather knew how to open the gate."

A low voice suddenly came from the other side of the door.

"And he paid dearly for it."
