Chapter 54

The Leviathan was a masterpiece of illicit engineering, a decommissioned military submarine retrofitted with absolute luxury and devastating offensive capabilities.

Cole, wrapped in a thick wool blanket, sat in the opulent, wood-paneled command center. Ava was in a nearby medical bay, holding Nora as a syndicate doctor checked them for hypothermia.

Vincent Castalano stood at the head of a digital tactical table, pouring a glass of expensive bourbon. He looked exactly as Cole remembered him: impeccably dressed, impossibly calm, and terrifyingly dangerous.

"The federal authorities just recovered the wreckage of your plane, Cole," Vincent stated smoothly, setting the bottle down. "The official narrative is a catastrophic engine failure due to extreme weather. You and your team are officially dead."

"For now," Cole replied, accepting the glass of bourbon. "But Director Vance isn't stupid. When they don't find bodies, she will assume I survived. She will tear the country apart looking for the vial."

Vincent leaned forward, resting his tattooed hands on the table. "Show it to me."

Cole didn't hesitate. He pulled the glowing vial of Nora's extracted genetic data from his vest and placed it on the glass surface. The faint, bioluminescent green liquid pulsed rhythmically in the dim light of the command center.

"My chief cyber-architect, Clara, analyzed the fragmented data packets your sister intercepted from the Swiss bunker," Vincent explained, his gray eyes locking onto the vial. "The Vanguard wasn't building a biological weapon, Cole."

"Then what is it?" Cole demanded, his brow furrowing.

"It's a digital key," Vincent said softly. "Encoded in organic material to ensure it could never be hacked or stolen by conventional means. The liquid contains a synthesized, programmable DNA sequence. It is the only thing on earth capable of unlocking a network known as the 'God's Eye'."

"The God's Eye," Donovan whispered from the corner, her face paling. "That's a myth. A theoretical surveillance grid the NSA proposed decades ago but supposedly abandoned because it was too invasive."

"They didn't abandon it," Vincent corrected coldly. "They outsourced it to the private sector. To the Vanguard. The grid utilizes thousands of micro-satellites already in orbit. If activated, the God's Eye bypasses every digital privacy protocol on the planet. It can read secure emails, hijack localized camera feeds, track global financial routing, and monitor encrypted military comms in real-time. It grants the user absolute, omniscient control."

Cole stared at the glowing vial, the sheer, apocalyptic magnitude of the threat settling over him.

"And Director Vance wants to activate it," Cole realized.

"Vance wants to become the Architect of the new world," Vincent agreed. "With that grid, she won't just run the military. She will hold every politician, every billionaire, and every syndicate hostage. But she needs the key to wake the system up."

"So we destroy it," Cole stated, reaching for the vial.

May you like

"No!" Vincent barked, grabbing Cole’s wrist with blinding speed. The two apex predators locked eyes, the tension in the room instantly skyrocketing.

"If you destroy the key," Vincent whispered, his voice a lethal threat, "the system defaults to a localized failsafe. The satellite network will automatically initiate a scorched-earth protocol, systematically overloading and destroying the primary power grids of every major city on the Eastern Seaboard to protect its secrets. Millions will die in the blackout. You don't destroy a bomb, Cole. You defuse it."
