Chapter 29 - The Second Betrayal

The air inside the observation lounge froze completely, more frigid than the blizzard raging against the panoramic windows.

"What did you say?" Vincent’s voice dropped so low it was barely audible above the howling wind outside.

"Domenico faked his death in Palermo twelve years ago," Caterina explained, her voice tight with sorrow and fear. "The casket we buried at St. Patrick's Cathedral was filled with sand and lead. He didn't die of heart failure, Vincent. He went underground to build a shadow network that the Commission could never track."

Vincent stood completely still, his Kimber .45 still aimed at Voronin's skull. His mind raced back through twelve years of history—every war, every truce, every political favor the Falcone family had executed. All of it had been orchestrated from the shadows by a ghost.

"Why?" Ruby asked, her young face pale. "Why would Grandfather attack us? Why would he hurt Mom?"

"Because Vincent changed the rules," Voronin sputtered from the floor, coughing up another clot of blood. "Vincent wanted... peace. Vincent wanted legitimacy. He began moving the family wealth into legitimate funds, clean real estate, tech infrastructure... He was dismantling Domenico's war machine!"

Voronin spat blood onto Vincent’s boot. "Domenico is an old-world predator! He believes a Falcone can only rule through blood, terror, and absolute subjugation! When Vincent refused to execute the Five Families' children last year to consolidate total power, Domenico decided his son was too weak to carry the name!"

"Shut up," Vincent snarled.

"He hired us!" Voronin laughed, a manic, wet rattle. "The Bratva was just the hammer! Domenico promised us the shipping corridors in exchange for wiping you off the board! He wanted Caterina alive because she holds the decryption keys to the offshore war chest—five billion dollars hidden in numbered accounts across the Caribbean! And Ruby..."

Voronin’s eyes locked onto the little girl. "...Domenico wanted the girl. He said... he could mold her. He said her father was too sentimental, but the granddaughter... the granddaughter had the cold heart of a true Falcone."

Vincent felt a volcanic roar rising from the depths of his soul. His own father. The man who had taught him how to shoot, how to negotiate, how to lead. The patriarch whose portrait hung in the grand atrium of their fortress, the man whose legacy Vincent had bled to protect every single day of his life.

Domenico hadn't been a victim of time. He was the architect of their destruction.

"Where is he?" Vincent asked, pressing the barrel of the Kimber directly into Voronin's forehead, the cold steel biting into the Russian's flesh. "Where is Domenico?"

Voronin sneered, his teeth stained crimson. "Look out the window, Don Falcone."

Suddenly, the night sky above the *Knyaz Vladimir* was torn apart by a deafening, thunderous roar.

A massive, twin-rotor military-grade Boeing CH-47 Chinook helicopter descended through the blizzard, its blinding high-intensity spotlight slamming down onto the superyacht's forward observation deck, shattering the darkness.

Over the helicopter’s external PA system, a voice boomed—an old, gravelly voice carrying an unmistakable Sicilian accent, commanding, resonant, and entirely devoid of mercy.
