Chapter 5 - THE WOMAN BEHIND THE PLAN

Luciano ordered a complete review of the residential facility and its ownership records.

The facility itself was legitimate. But the application had been submitted through a private placement consultant who had previously worked with Celina's former business partner, Adrian Cross.

Adrian had once attempted to purchase a minority interest in the family estate.

Isabella had rejected the proposal.

After her death, the estate remained protected by Ellie's trust.

Luciano stared at the corporate records.

“Adrian couldn't buy the estate directly, so he needed control of the person who managed Ellie's shares.”

Richard nodded cautiously.

“That is one possible interpretation. We need evidence of coordination before reaching a conclusion.”

They found an email chain between the placement consultant and an account linked to Celina.

One message contained a sentence that made Luciano's blood run cold:

Once the child is relocated and the father is declared unable to manage the situation, the administration petition can proceed.

Luciano slammed his hand against the desk.

“They planned to use my own daughter to take control of her inheritance.”

“We still need to establish who wrote the message and whether the petition was intended to deceive a court,” Richard said. “But the evidence warrants immediate action.”

Luciano instructed his lawyers to notify the relevant authorities and seek an emergency review of the attempted guardianship arrangements.

That afternoon, Celina arrived at the mansion with a suitcase.

“You've made your point,” she announced. “I'm leaving until you calm down.”

Luciano stood at the foot of the staircase.

“You're not leaving because I'm angry. You're leaving because you arranged to remove my daughter from her home.”

“I was trying to give us a future!”

“Without Ellie.”

“She would have been cared for!”

“Hundreds of miles away, under a false medical assessment, with a forged authorization bearing my name.”

Celina's eyes filled with tears.

“Adrian told me the arrangement was legal.”

Luciano went still.

“You admit Adrian was involved?”

She covered her mouth.

The confession had slipped out before she could stop it.

Luciano stepped closer.

“Tell me everything.”

Celina began crying.

Adrian had promised to help her secure financial independence. He had told her that the estate was vulnerable if Ellie lived elsewhere and Luciano's ability to manage the trust came into question.

He had drafted the petition.

He had introduced the placement consultant.

Celina had agreed because she believed she could become temporary administrator and use that authority to restructure the estate.

“I thought I could fix everything later,” she whispered.

“You thought you could take control first and ask forgiveness afterward.”

She reached for his hand.

“Luciano, I love you.”

He pulled away.

“You love the future you imagined for yourself. You never loved the family that came with it.”

Celina picked up her suitcase and walked toward the door.

Then she stopped.

“You think Adrian will let you expose him? You have no idea how powerful he is.”

Luciano watched her leave.

For the first time, he felt certain the danger had not ended.

And that evening, the security team discovered someone had accessed Ellie's bedroom while the family was downstairs.

What had they been searching for—and had they found it?
