Chapter 14 - A Daughter’s Terrifying MemoryLuciano returned home and found Ellie sitting silently in the living room.

She had overheard part of his conversation with Richard.
“Daddy, did Mommy die because of Adrian?”
Luciano knelt before her.
“We don’t know that yet, sweetheart. But we’re going to find out.”
Ellie hesitated before revealing something she had never told him.
The night before Isabella died, she had heard her mother arguing with a man in the study.
“He said Mommy had to sign something. Mommy said no.”
Luciano’s heart pounded.
“Did you see his face?”
Ellie shook her head.
“But I remember his voice. And he wore a silver ring with a black stone.”
Luciano immediately remembered Adrian’s distinctive ring.
Before he could ask more, Ellie began trembling.
A counselor had warned him not to pressure her for details, so he held her close and promised she was safe.
Later, Luciano checked the mansion’s archived security footage. Most recordings from that night were missing.
One surviving clip showed a figure entering Isabella’s study shortly before midnight.
The face was obscured, but the person wore a dark suit and a silver ring.
Richard froze when he saw it.
“That ring belonged to Adrian’s father,” he said. “But there’s something else. His father died years ago.”
Luciano looked at the screen again.
Someone had deliberately worn a ring that could implicate Adrian—or someone else.
Then an anonymous envelope arrived.
Inside was a photograph of Isabella taken the night she died.
On the back were four words:
