Chapter 13 - The Secret MarriageRichard uncovered an unexpected courthouse record.

Six months before Isabella’s death, she had filed documents challenging a financial agreement involving Adrian. But another record was even more disturbing.
Adrian had once been legally married to Celina.
Luciano confronted Celina at the private residence where she was staying.
“You told me Adrian was merely an old business associate.”
Celina’s face hardened.
“Our marriage ended years ago.”
“Then why did Isabella meet him at a courthouse?”
Celina refused to answer.
Luciano slammed the documents onto the table.
“Did you and Adrian plan to take Ellie’s inheritance?”
Celina slapped him.
“Stop pretending Isabella was innocent! She knew things about Adrian that could destroy all of us.”
Luciano stared at her in disbelief.
Before he could respond, Celina broke down and admitted that Adrian had approached her shortly after Isabella’s death. He promised her wealth and influence if she helped him gain access to the estate.
But Celina insisted she had never intended to hurt Ellie.
“You put my daughter in danger,” Luciano said coldly. “There is no excuse.”
Celina then revealed that Isabella had discovered a financial arrangement designed to transfer control of the family trust to Adrian.
“She was going to expose him,” Celina whispered. “Then she died.”
“Are you saying Adrian killed my wife?”
“I’m saying he was terrified of what she knew.”
Luciano left immediately and contacted the investigators.
But before he could reach the mansion, Richard called with another discovery.
Isabella’s original legal files had disappeared.
