Chapter 1 - "My sister slapped my five-year-old daughter at our family Thanksgiving dinner.

"My sister slapped my five-year-old daughter at our family Thanksgiving dinner. When my husband saw the red mark on her face, he did something that ruined the holiday forever.
The sound of the slap was louder than the Thanksgiving music.
Every fork froze halfway to someone's mouth.
The laughter filling the room vanished in a single second.
My five-year-old daughter, Lily, stumbled backward.
Her tiny hand flew straight to her burning cheek.
A bright red mark was already spreading beneath her eye.
My sister stood over her, breathing heavily with a furious look.
'She touched my plate,' my sister snapped without remorse.
My mother cleared her throat nervously.
'It's just a light slap, don't make a scene,' Mom whispered.
I felt a wave of pure anger rush through my veins.
Lily began to sob quietly, hiding behind my legs.
My husband stood up from his chair so fast it flipped over.
He walked over to my sister with a terrifying look in his eyes.
'Touch my child again, and see what happens,' he warned.
My sister laughed in his face and pulled out her phone.

'I'll call the police on you right now,' she sneered.
My husband reached into his coat and tossed a thick folder onto the table.
