Chapter 7 - The Hidden DocumentBack inside the house, Detective Miller and Daniel walked into the master bedroom to secure Vanessa's personal belongings.
"We need to check for any other devices or physical documents she might have stashed away," Miller said, shining his flashlight toward the walk-in closet.
Daniel unlocked the heavy wall safe hidden behind a painting of his late wife, Elena. Inside were cash, passports, and jewelry. But at the very bottom sat a thick manila folder labeled Reynolds Estate Restructuring.
Daniel pulled it out, his brow furrowing. He flipped it open.
"What is this?" Daniel muttered, scanning the dense legal jargon. His eyes widened in absolute horror. "No... this is impossible."
"What did you find?" Miller asked, stepping closer.

"She... she altered the prenuptial agreement," Daniel breathed, his hands shaking so violently he nearly dropped the papers. "And the guardianship papers for Noah. If anything happens to me... custody doesn't go to my parents. It goes to her brother. A man currently serving time in federal prison for financial fraud."
Detective Miller’s face darkened. "This goes way deeper than a domestic dispute, Mr. Reynolds. This was an organized, long-term conspiracy."
