Chapter 9 - THE HEROINE OF ROOM 304The next morning, Sofia walked through the front gates of St. Jude High for the first time since the incident, and the atmosphere was entirely transformed.

Instead of the usual morning indifference, students whispering in hallways instantly stopped as she passed—not out of fear or mockery, but out of absolute awe. Several upperclassmen nodded respectfully, and the student council president rushed over to hand her a handwritten note of gratitude signed by over two hundred students.

"Hey, Sofia," a voice called out as she approached her locker.

She turned to see Leo standing there. He looked different today. He was wearing a brand-new jacket donated by a local community fund, his shoulders were held high, and for the first time since Sofia had known him, he smiled—a bright, genuine, radiant smile that reached his eyes.

"How are you holding up, Leo?" Sofia asked, closing her locker door.

"Better than ever," Leo said softly. "The district arranged full-time in-home nursing care for my dad, and my tuition fees have been completely waived for the rest of high school. More importantly... I don't have to hide anymore."

Sofia smiled, feeling an immense weight lift off her own chest. "You never should have had to hide in the first place, Leo. You survived the worst of it. From here on out, nobody walks alone in this school."

Just as they began walking toward their first-period class, Principal Sterling approached them. He looked ten years older, carrying a cardboard box filled with his personal desk items. His resignation had been formally accepted by the school board at 6:00 AM.

"Sofia... Leo," Sterling said quietly, stopping before them. He didn't make excuses; he simply bowed his head. "I'm sorry. For everything. I hope one day you can forgive the administration for failing you."

Leo looked at the disgraced former principal, nodded once with quiet grace, and walked past him into the classroom.
