Chapter 3 - THE FABRICATED LIEThe heavy classroom door slammed inward, splintering slightly against the magnetic stop as two security guards and the school’s stern Vice Principal, Mr. Henderson, burst into the room.

"What is the meaning of this?!" Mr. Henderson barked, his eyes darting between the chaotic scene: Leo kneeling on the floor, Sofia standing defensively by the wall, and Clara Vance standing statuesque with her hands neatly folded in front of her cardigan.
Clara turned toward the doorway, her expression instantly shifting into a masterpiece of wounded, exhausted professionalism. A single, perfectly timed tear slipped down her cheek.
"Mr. Henderson, thank goodness you're here," Clara choked out, her voice trembling with manufactured distress. "It’s total chaos. This boy, Leo, has been threatening students and destroying classroom property all morning. When I tried to intervene and de-escalate his violent outburst, he lunged at me with a sharp object, and..." She gestured dramatically toward Sofia. "...this student, Sofia, physically assaulted me to protect him, sabotaging school electrical equipment in the process!"
Leo’s head snapped up, his eyes wide with utter disbelief. "That's a lie! She hit me! She hit me with the ruler because I'm late!"
"Silence, Leo!" Mr. Henderson roared, his face flushing crimson. He looked at Clara with deep sympathy, completely buying her rehearsed performance. St. Jude High couldn't afford a scandal; administrative convenience always favored the faculty over struggling, low-income students.
"Ms. Vance, are you alright?" Mr. Henderson asked softly, rushing to her side.
"I'm shaken, sir. Truly shaken," Clara sniffled, glancing slyly toward Sofia. "I recommend immediate suspension for both of them. And confiscate that girl's phone—she's been recording unauthorized media to defame the school."
Sofia felt the blood rush to her ears. The injustice of it was suffocating. She looked at the security guards, pleading with her eyes. "Don't listen to her! Check the camera! The CCTV was unplugged! She unplugged it herself so nobody would see her beat him!"
One of the security guards frowned, looking up at the blinking red light. "She's right, Mr. Henderson. The feed just came back online upstairs. Marcus saw the whole thing on the monitor."
Clara didn't even flinch. She had anticipated this exact countermeasure. With ice in her veins, she delivered her masterstroke.

"Oh, really?" Clara smiled coldly. "And who verifies what Marcus saw? Marcus is my estranged cousin. He doctored feed logs all the time. That camera has been broken since Tuesday. Ask anyone—it’s a dead lens."
Mr. Henderson frowned deeply, his eyes narrowing at Sofia and Leo. The web of deceit was spinning fast, and the innocent were caught dead center in its trap.
