Chapter 3 - Tracing the Poison

The deeper Olga dug, the darker the truth became.
It started as a late-night deep dive in the university library. The glow of her laptop screen illuminated her tired face as she cross-referenced Vance Holdings' public tax filings with shell companies registered in Delaware.
Blake was supposed to be the financial genius of the family. He bragged endlessly about his "acquisitions" and his "vision." But as Olga tracked the digital paper trail, she realized Blake wasn't a genius. He was a sloppy, arrogant criminal.
Millions of dollars were bleeding from Vance Holdings. Blake had been taking out massive, high-interest loans against the company’s assets to fund his luxurious lifestyle—the trips to Monaco, the customized sports cars, the gambling debts. To cover his tracks, he had created phantom vendor accounts, paying "consulting fees" to LLCs that existed only on paper.
And Jack? Jack knew everything.
Olga found emails—leaked through a disgruntled former contractor she had tracked down—proving Jack had approved the fraudulent transfers. He was covering for his golden boy, cooking the books to keep the investors blind to the fact that Vance Holdings was functionally bankrupt.
But the most sickening discovery hit Olga at 3:00 AM on a rainy Tuesday.
She was tracing a specific sum of money—$2.4 million—that had been transferred into one of Blake’s offshore accounts. The routing numbers looked vaguely familiar. She pulled up the legal paperwork from her grandfather’s estate, the trust she had been barred from accessing.
The numbers matched.
Jack hadn’t just locked her out of her inheritance. He and Blake had liquidated it. They had stolen the money her grandfather had left her and used it to plug the massive, bleeding holes in Blake’s fraudulent ledgers.
Olga sat in the empty library, the rain lashing against the windows, her heart pounding a violent rhythm against her ribs. She didn't cry. A strange, icy calm washed over her.
They had stolen her future to fund their lies. They had called her useless while literally surviving on her money.
That night, the navy binder was born.
She began printing everything. Bank statements, wire transfer receipts, property deeds, falsified tax returns. She organized it meticulously, with the cold, clinical precision of a top-tier forensic accountant.
But compiling the evidence wasn't enough. If she just went to the police, Jack’s high-priced lawyers would bury the evidence in injunctions and legal red tape. He would find a scapegoat. He would slip away.
No, Olga needed an audience. She needed undeniable, public execution of their reputations.
She needed leverage.
The graduation ceremony was three weeks away. The university's Board of Trustees included three of the biggest private investors in Vance Holdings. They would all be sitting in the front row, watching the ceremony.

If she was going to strike, it had to be there. But her father was a paranoid man. He had eyes everywhere. If he found out what she was doing, he would destroy her before she ever reached the stage.
