Chapter 16 - Silas’s Trap

Olga’s fingers froze over the keyboard. The red progress bar on her screen crept toward 100%.

Remote Access Initiated: Terminal 4 - Silas Thorne.

Silas was pulling her data. If he saw the decrypted Widow’s Bite files, he would immediately take them to Elias. Elias would realize she was plotting to destroy him, and he would bypass the signature, opting to torture the biometric access out of her instead.

Olga didn't panic. She went on the offensive.

With lightning speed, she opened the estate’s internal routing matrix. She couldn't stop the download, but she could manipulate what Silas was stealing. She hastily buried the kill-switch files behind a firewall and replaced the data packets with a fabricated ledger she had built the night before—a ledger that made it look like Olga was embezzling $50 million from Elias’s private accounts directly into an offshore fund controlled by the FBI.

The download completed. The red warning vanished.

Olga sat back in her chair, breathing heavily in the cold server room. She had just laid the bait. Now, she had to wait for the rat to bite.

Ten minutes later, the glass door to her office violently shattered.

Two of Julian’s heavily armed guards stormed in, grabbing Olga by the arms and dragging her out of her chair. They hauled her up the stairs, throwing her onto the Persian rug in Elias’s grand study.

Elias was standing by the fireplace, his face twisted into a mask of absolute, lethal fury. Silas stood beside him, clutching a tablet, a triumphant, malicious sneer plastered across his face.

“I told you, Father,” Silas spat, pointing the tablet at Olga. “She’s a rat. I monitored her terminal. She’s been siphoning fifty million dollars into a federal honey-pot account. She’s building a case for the FBI, just like she did with Jack Vance.”

Julian stood by the door, his silver cane resting against his leg, a suppressed pistol in his hand. “You have deeply disappointed us, Olga.”

Elias walked slowly toward her, his heavy leather shoes sinking into the rug. He crouched down, grabbing Olga violently by the jaw, his fingers digging painfully into her cheeks.

“I offered you an empire,” Elias hissed, his breath cold against her face. “And you try to steal from me? In my own house?”

Olga didn't flinch. She stared directly into the terrifying eyes of the man who had murdered her mother. She let the silence stretch, amplifying the tension in the room until Silas shifted uncomfortably.

“You’re losing your touch, Elias,” Olga finally said, her voice dripping with ice. “You’re trusting a man who is actively trying to dethrone you.”

Elias narrowed his eyes, releasing her jaw. “What are you talking about?”

👉 Olga slowly stood up, brushing the dust off her knees, preparing to execute the most brilliant, brutal forensic trap of her entire life.
