Chapter 10 - THE HEAD OF THE TABLEOne year later.

The annual Blackwood-Vance Global Gala was held once again in the grand ballroom of the Blackwood Grand Hotel.
This time, there were no arrogant heiresses screaming at staff. There were no hidden bribes, no silent abuse, and no fear.
Over three hundred guests filled the room—executives, hotel maids, head chefs, room attendants, and international board members, all sitting together at the same long, beautifully decorated tables.
I stood at the top of the grand marble staircase, wearing an extraordinary crimson silk gown that flowed around my ankles like liquid fire. Around my neck rested a simple, stunning platinum necklace—a gift from Alexander.
Beside me stood Alexander, his arm wrapped securely around my waist, his posture proud and commanding.
The crowd below looked up at us, bursting into a thunderous, joyful applause that filled the high ceilings.
I raised my crystal glass of vintage champagne, looking down at the hundreds of smiling, proud faces beneath the glowing chandeliers.
I saw Sarah from guest relations laughing with a regional manager. I saw the head chef sharing a toast with a room attendant. I saw an empire built on dignity, equality, and unshakeable respect.
I leaned against Alexander’s chest, taking a sip of the sweet, crisp champagne.
Eighteen months ago, I had dropped to one knee on a cold marble floor, covered in spilled wine, while thirty wealthy strangers laughed at my uniform.
They had thought I was on the floor because I was weak.
They didn't know I was just waiting for the right moment to stand up.
And as Alexander pulled me close against his heart, kissing my temple beneath the bright lights of the ballroom, I knew I would never have to bow to anyone ever again.

I was at the head of the table.
And the view from the top was absolutely beautiful.
