Chapter 28 - Collision Course

As Maya concluded her incredibly moving speech, the stadium erupted into a massive, roaring standing ovation.

Arthur stood up, clapping so hard his hands began to sting, completely overwhelmed by the beautiful moment.

The principal began calling the names of the graduates one by one, handing out the crisp, white diplomas.

When Maya’s name was finally called, the applause from her friends and family was absolutely deafening.

She walked across the stage, accepted her diploma with a graceful bow, and flipped the tassel on her cap.

After the long ceremony concluded, the massive crowd spilled out onto the grassy field for photographs and celebrations.

Maya ran directly toward Arthur, throwing her arms around his neck in a massive, joy-filled embrace.

"I did it, Mr. Pendelton!" Maya cheered, her face glowing with pure, unadulterated happiness.

"You certainly did, kiddo," Arthur beamed, patting her back gently. "I am so incredibly proud of you."

Suddenly, a chaotic commotion broke out near the main entrance gates of the football stadium.

Several security guards were shouting, rushing toward a large man who was aggressively pushing his way through the crowd.

Detective Miller instantly snapped to attention, his hand instinctively dropping to the concealed weapon holstered at his hip.

Arthur turned around, his eyes narrowing as he tried to get a clear look at the rapidly escalating situation.

The man shoving through the crowd was not Vincent Vance, but he looked terrifyingly familiar to Arthur.

It was a man with a shaved head and a thick, dark beard, wearing a heavy leather jacket despite the blistering heat.

"Miller, who is that?" Arthur demanded, stepping quickly in front of Maya to shield her from the approaching threat.

"I don't know, but he is moving with serious purpose," Miller replied, stepping forward to intercept the aggressive stranger.

The man violently shoved a security guard to the ground, his wild, bloodshot eyes locking directly onto Arthur.

"You set up my boss, you old rat!" the man screamed, reaching aggressively into the inner pocket of his leather jacket.

It was one of Vance's loyal street enforcers, deeply enraged by his boss's sudden arrest and looking for immediate, bloody revenge.

The peaceful, joyous graduation ceremony was instantly transformed into a terrifying scene of absolute panic.

Parents screamed, grabbing their children and scattering wildly in every direction to escape the impending violence.

Arthur did not run, planting his feet firmly into the soft grass, totally prepared to defend Maya with his dying breath.

The collision course between good and evil had abruptly returned, right in the middle of a beautiful summer afternoon.
