Chapter 7 - Storm Clouds over Chicago

Three days later, the peaceful atmosphere of the estate was shattered by an urgent report.

Inside Dante’s private ground-floor office, three senior syndicate captains stood in front of his mahogany desk. The room was illuminated by bright daylight pouring through reinforced floor-to-ceiling windows.

"Boss," spoke Marco, Dante's chief adviser, a stern man in his late thirties. "Word has leaked out into the city. Someone in the servants' union mentioned that Sarah Bennett moved into the master wing, and that her daughter carries Julian's features."

Dante leaned back in his leather executive chair, his gray-blue eyes narrowing into cold slits. "Who knows?"

"Don Moretti," Marco replied grimly. "He suspects the child is Julian’s heir. Our informants report that Moretti has mobilized two tactical teams in downtown Chicago. They believe that if they capture the girl, they can force you to surrender your territory."

Dante stood up slowly, his tall, muscular frame radiating terrifying power. His black tattoos seemed to darken against his fair skin as his fists clenched tightly at his sides.

"Moretti thinks he can target a four-year-old child?" Dante said, his voice dropping into an ice-cold whisper that chilled the room. "He thinks he can touch Julian's daughter?"

"What are your orders, Boss?" Marco asked, standing at strict attention.

"Lock down the estate perimeter," Dante ordered coldly. "Double the guards on the east wing. Tell my strike force to prepare the armored vehicles. We are not waiting for Moretti to come to us. We are ending this today."

Just as Dante finished speaking, the high-definition security monitors on his wall flashed red. An emergency alarm chimed softly.

On Monitor 2, three dark SUVs smashed through the outer perimeter iron gates of the estate, speeding up the long winding driveway toward the grand entrance!

Dante didn't panic. He pulled a black semi-automatic pistol from his desk drawer, checked the magazine with lethal efficiency, and turned to Marco. "Secure Sarah and Lily in the underground vault. No one gets near them."

"Yes, Boss!" Marco shouted, rushing out of the room.

Dante walked calmly toward the grand hall, his eyes burning with the fire of absolute vengeance.
