Chapter 14 - Sunrise Over Long Island

Fifteen years in the underworld taught me how to fight for survival, but enduring ultimate pain taught me how to truly love.

The next morning, the first rays of dawn broke through the grand glass windows of the Long Island estate.

I woke earlier than usual, stepping into the massive kitchen to prepare breakfast—the very room witnessing my life's turning point. Gone was the scent of gunpowder and angry shouts; only the aroma of toasted bread and warm coffee filled the air.

Soon, the shuffling steps of tiny slippers echoed down the hallway.

Mia and Valentina raced into the kitchen first, wrapping their arms around my legs with giggles. Close behind walked Lucia, stepping leisurely with a radiant, flawless smile.

"Daddy, will you make smiley-face pancakes today?" Lucia looked up, her voice sweet and clear.

I smiled, patting her head, my heart swelling with unprecedented peace.

"Right away, my little princess," I answered, turning back to flip the sizzling pancakes on the pan.

Outside the window, brilliant sunshine illuminated the gardens, unveiling a new chapter overflowing with laughter and love—a complete ending for a man who once thought he had lost everything.
