Chapter 12 - A New Chapter for the Russo Family

Three weeks after the historic Manhattan trial, the Russo family business empire entered a brand-new chapter.
I summoned the senior board of directors, announcing the complete abandonment of underworld operations, the liquidation of all illegal investments tied to the mob, and the conversion of all assets into the legitimate Isabella Russo Charitable Foundation, supporting orphans and disadvantaged women across America. My former underworld enforcers were disbursed with startup capital to pursue honest lives or forge independent paths.
At the Long Island estate, armed guards no longer loitered in every hallway. Instead, the grounds echoed with the joyful laughter of Lucia, Valentina, and Mia chasing each other across the lush back lawn.
Elena decided to stay on to assist Rosa in caring for the children while serving as legal counsel for the foundation. The barrier between crime lord and maid dissolved, replaced by profound mutual respect forged through navigating storms together.
That afternoon, I stepped out to the back patio holding two glasses of fresh orange juice. Elena sat on a lounge chair under the veranda, watching the children play.
"They look truly happy," Elena glanced at me, smiling gently.
I sat beside her, handing her a glass. "Thank you, Elena. Without your courage and your father's files, I would have drowned in my sins until my dying day without ever hearing my daughter's voice again."
"You don't need to thank me, Dominic," Elena took a sip, her gaze shifting to Lucia running toward us. "You're simply doing what a real father should do."
Lucia bolted over, diving into my arms and placing a daisy chain she wove herself onto my head.

"Daddy, you look just like the prince in Mom's fairy tales!" Lucia beamed, her eyes sparkling.
I pulled her close, looking up at the azure Long Island sky. The dark clouds had cleared, replaced by warm sunshine bathing a peaceful land.
